Barn Quilt Tour planned

URBANA — Make plans now to take an autumn drive through Cham­paign County’s beau­ti­ful rolling coun­try­side dur­ing the 7th Annual Barn Quilt Tour event. Sev­eral barns through­out south­east Cham­paign County will be open to vis­i­tors Sat­ur­day, Octo­ber 13th and Sun­day, Octo­ber 14th. Tour-goers will enjoy antique farm equip­ment dis­plays, mod­ern & vin­tage quilt dis­plays and quilt sale, edu­ca­tional and his­tor­i­cal exhibits; local foods, farmer’s mar­ket fea­tur­ing pump­kins & mums, children’s activ­i­ties, per­for­mances, and more!

As an exten­sion of the Cham­paign County Barn Quilt Tour, busi­nesses and indi­vid­u­als are invited to par­tic­i­pate in the Clothes Line of Quilts Con­test. Con­tes­tants are encour­aged to cre­ate unique quilt dis­plays at their homes and places of busi­ness before and dur­ing the tour. Cash prizes will be awarded to the indi­vid­ual win­ners and recog­ni­tion given to the busi­ness win­ners. “The Clothes Line of Quilts pro­mo­tion is an inte­gral part of the Cham­paign County Barn Quilt Tour event”, com­ments Sandi Arnold, Exec­u­tive Direc­tor of the Cham­paign County Cham­ber & Vis­i­tors Bureau. “Not only does the con­test gen­er­ate excite­ment for and add to the beauty of the tour, but when vis­i­tors drive through our county before and dur­ing the event, it’s evi­dent that this is truly a com­mu­nity effort and our res­i­dents take a deep pride in the rich agri­cul­tural her­itage of Cham­paign County”

The Cham­paign County Barn Quilt Tour was estab­lished in 2006 and cur­rently fea­tures over 70 barn quilts. The Cham­ber offers tour maps for those who wish to take self-guided tours through­out the year.

The $10 tour tick­ets will go on sale in Sep­tem­ber at the Cham­paign County Cham­ber of Com­merce and other loca­tions to be announced through­out Cham­paign County.
